Birthday Lesson: Your Customer Relationships Are Like Birthday Candles
Each customer relationship is like a candle on your birthday cake. Some burn bright and steady – those loyal advocates who’ve been with you for years. Others flicker and need attention to keep the flame alive. And some might blow out if you’re not careful.
But here’s the beautiful thing: they’re all meant to bring prosperity and light and joy.
When you approach each customer interaction like you’re tending to something precious – something that could light up their day the way birthday candles light up a room – everything changes.

The Gift I’m Giving Myself (And You Can Too)
This year, I’m giving myself the gift of conscious appreciation. Not just quick “thanks,” but really SEEING and appreciating others – and myself – in a deeper way. I know it takes an extra minute or two to look for someone’s strengths and give them a compliment on them but it’s so worth hearing their reaction or seeing their face light up. The American Psychologist William James said that the greatest human need is the need for appreciation!
Your Turn: Who deserves your conscious appreciation this week? Don’t just think it – SAY it. Write it. Call them. Make it real.
Research shows that people who regularly practice appreciation are happier, healthier, and more successful. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving!
Birthday Wisdom: Fresh Starts
One of the best things about birthdays? They’re like personal New Year’s Days. Fresh start. Clean slate. And mine is special since it’s the midway point of the year – July 2 – we have a whole half a year left. I’m redoing the affirmations I see and say every morning, I’m revisiting my goals, and I’m thinking a lot about who I have to BE to get there!
Maybe you’ve been meaning to BE a better listener – really listen more carefully, follow up more consistently, or express genuine appreciation to your team. Maybe you’ve been thinking about your affirmations and hoe you talk to yourself !
Here’s my birthday gift to you: Permission to start today. Not Monday. Not next month. Today.
