Last week I taught a masterclass called The Hidden Leadership Patterns That Undermine Employee Engagement.  It was a small group and a meaningful conversation.

Afterward, one attendee sent me a note that stopped me in my tracks. He wrote a delightful testimonial and this stood out:

“This class was a highlight in my 50 years of learning from the wisdom of others”

Fifty years. Yikes!

Not because I shared a magic formula.

But because leadership is often shaped by patterns we don’t even realize we’re repeating – a rushed conversation, a missed opportunity for appreciation.

Maybe we’re solving problems instead of developing people. (My biggest failing – still working on it)

Maybe we’re focusing on tasks while neglecting connection.

Important little things that add up to us being less effective as a leader.

Well that knocked my socks off!

Over time, these small moments create something much bigger: the emotional climate people experience every day.

And people respond to that climate. Engagement, trust, customer experience, and performance are all influenced by it, by the climate you create.

This week, answer this question for me…

What is one leadership pattern you repeat that may be shaping your team’s experience more than you realize?

Small shifts often create the biggest changes.

Until next time,

JoAnna

P.S. You want to know MORE about your leadership? Bring your 12 or 13 year old child to work with you for a few days.  The biggest revelation I ever had about my leadership came from my daughter. If you want to know what that was, set up a short “Ask me anything” call and I’ll be happy to tell you https://calendly.com/joannabrandi

Creating workplaces where people bring their best selves to work—and customers feel the difference.

We WILL be repeating that class the last week in June. Yes, of course we’ll let you know.

Culture isn’t created by what leaders intend. It’s created by what people repeatedly experience. Mark your calendar for June 25th at 11 AM Eastern time for the Masterclass!

Invitation to come shortly!
